The yield strength of 2205 duplex stainless steel is more than double as high as that of common Austenitic stainless steel, allowing designers to reduce weight when designing products. On this ground, this alloy is more competitive than 316L and 317L stainless steel plate.
As a commonly used stainless steel plate product, 2205 stainless steel plate is manufactured by hot rolled coils, resulting in sheet thicknesses typically over 3mm. Compared to cold rolled stainless steel sheet, these hot rolled plates have a whiter finish.
