Grade 316H is a high carbon modification of 316 stainless steel developed for use in elevated temperature service. The alloy has higher strength at elevated temperatures and is used for structural and pressure vessel applications at temperatures above 932°F (500°C). The higher carbon content of 316H plate also delivers higher tensile and yield strength than 316L stainless steel sheet plate and its austenitic structure provides excellent toughness down to cryogenic temperatures.
As a commonly used stainless steel plate product, 316H stainless steel plate is manufactured by hot rolled coils, resulting in sheet thicknesses typically over 3mm. Compared to cold rolled stainless steel sheet, these hot rolled plates have a whiter finish.
