316LVM is a vacuum remelted, molybdenum alloyed, austenitic stainless steel. Grade 316LVM surgical steel plates are electroslag remelted (ESR) or vacuum arc remelted (VAR), low carbon, high nickel and molybdenum versions of 316 stainless steel.
A second high-quality melting step improves cleanliness. Chemical modification is designed to maximize the alloy’s corrosion resistance and provide a ferrite-free microstructure.
As a commonly used stainless steel sheet product, 316LVM stainless steel sheet is manufactured by cold-rolling, flattening, and shearing precision coils, resulting in sheet thicknesses typically under 3mm. Compared to hot rolled stainless steel plate, these cold rolled sheets offer a brighter surface finish, making them suitable for both functional and aesthetic uses.
