Grade 316H is a high carbon modification of 316 stainless steel developed for use in elevated temperature service. The alloy has higher strength at elevated temperatures and is used for structural and pressure vessel applications at temperatures above 932°F (500°C). The higher carbon content of 316H sheet also delivers higher tensile and yield strength than 316L stainless steel sheet and its austenitic structure provides excellent toughness down to cryogenic temperatures.
As a commonly used stainless steel sheet product, 316H stainless steel sheet is manufactured by cold-rolling, flattening, and shearing precision coils, resulting in sheet thicknesses typically under 3mm. Compared to hot rolled stainless steel plate, these cold rolled sheets offer a brighter surface finish, making them suitable for both functional and aesthetic uses.
